posted Apr 29, 2016, 4:02 PM by Robert Periard
Happy Friday to all! A few of our weekly highlights and reminders are:

**JK-Gr 4 Family Literacy Night: May 5th 6:00-7:30. All primary classrooms set up with literacy based activities. Prize draw entry for every student and family that attends. Each family will receive a take home package. Book Swap: bring in gently used books and swap them out for some other gently used books. All families to gather at the end of the evening together for a Family Read Aloud. It promises to be a great night of family fun and learning!

**Calling all parents!! The Brookville Spring Fair is set for Saturday May 28 and with so many exciting activities and events we need your help to make it a huge success. We need volunteers for many tasks. So, if you have time before, during or after the event to volunteer please sign up. We only need an hour of your time (but we will take more if you have it!) so you will still have lots of time to spend with your family at the fair. Please click on this link to our online volunteer sign up: http://vols.pt/EvKRKU Thank you for your time.

**On Facebook? “Like” Brookville Spring Fair 2016 so that you keep up to date on Spring Fair updates!

**Spring Fair Planning: The committee is busy canvassing business and community members for donations of items for our raffles and silent auction. We are also taking monetary donations as sponsorships for our bouncy castles, obstacle courses, kids alley games, etc. If you or your company would like to donate either a prize or a make a monetary donation, please contact Brookville School Council via email at Brookvillespringfair@gmail.com or call the school at 905-854-2424. Also watch our Facebook Events Page for updates.

**On May 2nd, our Grade 7 & 8 girls will have the opportunity to visit the Ontario Young Women’s Conference (@ Bingeman’s, Kitchener) and Ontario Skills Competition (@ RIM Park, Waterloo). A great opportunity to empower our students. The event and transportation has been sponsored by the HDSB Pathways department.

**On Wednesday May 4th Brookville PS will continue in its long tradition of public speaking excellence, by showcasing class champions from Junior and Intermediate classes in our annual school public speaking competition. The event will be held in the Gymnasium beginning at 10:45 AM

**Band Update: Both the Jazz Band and the Concert Band will be performing at Spring Fair on Saturday, May 28 at 10:30AM. Our Wonderland Trip is booked for Tuesday June 14 from 9:00 am until 7:00 pm.
